Guy Davis, twice nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Traditional Blues Album, is a living legend of the blues. He is the recipient of the prestigious Keeping the Blues Alive Award from the Blues Foundation, and has more than two dozen nominations, including Best Acoustic Blues Artist, Best Song and Best Acoustic Album of the Year.
 
His latest album, The Legend of Sugarbelly, follows up Be Ready When I Call You, both Grammy nominees. This new work includes songs taken from a play in development and features the emotional song Early In the Morning, written during the darkest days of the pandemic.
 
With 15 solo albums and appearances on numerous compilations and tribute albums, Davis' career also spans film, television, Broadway, Off Broadway, music education, children's literature and, of course, American blues.
 
His music and lyrics are deeply influenced by legends such as Blind Willie McTell, Big Bill Broonzy and Lightnin' Hopkins, and he also incorporates African rhythms inspired by Babatunde Olatunji. On harmonica, he adopts techniques from greats like Sonny Terry.
